From what I understand, it's not particularly game-changing. SS2 does have a quest line built into it, but it's mostly just for immersion and to introduce features of the game.
You'll have to use it anyway if you want to do a raider conquest playthrough. Sim Settlements 1 is definitely an amazing product and still viable. So you should look over the ss1 conqueror pack and see if that's something you want.īut keep in mind that once a save is ss1, it can't be used with ss2 and the reverse is true as well. Industrial and rise features are basically included in SS2, but conqueror is not - and you can't use an ss1 expansion in SS2. Ss1 has 3 expansion packs Industrial revolution, rise of the commonwealth, and conqueror. If using stuff that is being actively supported in the future matters more and you are ok with doing that until the mod is mature, go with ss2. Are you cool with posting and reading the Ss2 forums or wiki when something seems iffy with the game? If not, better to go with ss1. I think it comes down to how much stability matters to you.
On the other hand, Ss1 has more supporting mods, like building plans, city plans, etc.Īlso, Ss2 is brand new, and thus has many kinks to be ironed out - ss1 is more stable, but it's also being worked on in an "as needed" basis. But Ss2 does allow you to skip the quest and just get straight to the building, so it's not too big a deal.
But, it's features are locked behind the quest, and if you don't care about that it you could do without. Ss2 has more features, and will of course be the one getting updated going forward.
